3-1/2 days of swimming in the ocean, swimming in a pool, showering in hot water, sleeping in air-conditioning -- not to mention electricity 24-7 -- it was glorious. Oh, we also had morning devotions, staff meetings, team-building games, and cross-cultural sessions. Still, glorious.
One night we stayed up late to watch a documentary one of the MCCers, Josh, made with his cousin. It's hilarious -- along the lines of "Best in Show." If you want to check it out, their website is
Anyway, Sunday afternoon, we packed up and headed out. It was storming all day Sunday, and part of the road back to Dezam had washed away in one town. Back to reality.

Lindsay!! Hi! It's your Aunt Cheryl (sort of) and Art! We very much enjoy reading your blog. Glad you had a chance to regroup-recoup after giving birth to cats (OK, witnessing, sort of...) Were you able to use your dress again? Do you remember Willys and Suzette Geffrard? They were at Kimbers grad party at their old house down at Heritage. Willys is presently working for the US Gov't in Haiti (starting small businesses and that sort of thing) and we wanted to get to you his contact info especially since you've already met him (albeit approx 6 yrs ago). His two little boys whom you met are both well over 6 ft tall, one out of high school, the other about to graduate. Very nice boys!!! Willys was in Port-au-Prince last week. Sorry we d/n get this info to you sooner. We can email you his contact cell #, just ask for it by email to us. He works out of Cap Haitian and travels to PAP on business frequently. His wife Suzette gave us this info and is excited about the two of you connecting with each other and your ministries. Suzette is a Speech Therapist in the Atlanta area schools and Willys goes home there every 6-8 weeks to spend a few days with his family as part of his contract. It's a 2-yr contract (we think) and he's been there about 6 mo (again, we think). He and Art became acquainted at Eastern (University now) College in the MBA program and he graduated and has done mission work in what is now the Congo; in Mali; and in Port-au-Prince with the Mennonites from Canada for 2-3 yrs. Is it OK to give him your contact info? Well wait to see your comment before proceeding. We love you and pray for you frequently. Today is a glorious pre-fall day with temps in mid 80's mostly sunny, lows in the low 60s at nite. We keep our french (not Kreyol) doors to the porch open. The cicadas are LOUD this year but nothing can keep us from yummy sleep!! :) Tammy's Benton, 16 mo, was released from Children's Hosp in Seattle after 8+ weeks where he rec'd a tracheotomy. He couldn't breath properly and now he's doing so much better. The docs still can't figure out what's wrong with him and no more tests are going to be done - all's been done that can be. We think eventually he will be A-OK like any healthy little boy. Aunt Diane and Kay Hampton are out in Seattle now staying with Tammy & Dennis until Thurs at which time they will check into a downtown hotel for Aglow Int'l's Conference. Can we post photos to you on this blog? Anyway, we need to feed Aunt Rose before she starves to distraction. I'm blessed - Art is doing the cooking tonite! Yippee!! :) TTYL...
